Matthew Riley

Founding Director / Lead Architect

I love getting to grips with the details of a project and enjoy pursuing the delicate balancing between aesthetics and functionality at all scales.

Matthew is a calm and strategic thinker with a willingness to listen. His attention to detail and strong construction experience serves MIR Studio well, and he is passionate about socially-led architecture, and re-thinking, re-using and re-purposing existing buildings and working within their constraints. He is in his prime when working closely with specialist consultants from a range of disciplines, and recognises the value of collaboration to create places and spaces that inspire true, positive, long-lasting change.

Prior to founding MIR Studio with co-directors Stanislaw and Anna , Matthew worked on a number of award-winning architectural projects with Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A). He played a key role in the delivery of the award-winning cultural project, Exhibition Road Quarter for the V&A Museum in London – a technically challenging project which required an aspirational approach to technical detailing, alongside sensitivity in working with 5 interfacing Grade 1 listed buildings. He continues to deliver projects for the V&A Museum, on behalf of MIR Studio.
